Renovated prewar co-op with bold navy kitchen, exposed brick accent wall, and sliding barn door at 353 Ocean Avenue, Apt 6E, Prospect Lefferts Gardens, Brooklyn

Apt 6E at 353 Ocean Avenue is a prewar Prospect Lefferts Gardens co-op that Zani Construction gut renovated with a real point of view. Rather than playing it safe with a neutral palette, this project leans into bold, characterful design choices throughout the apartment.

The kitchen is the headline space — a two-tone scheme with white shaker uppers and deep navy blue lowers, anchored by a striking patterned blue and white tile backsplash and finished with a copper farmhouse sink and a mint green accent refrigerator. Beyond the kitchen, the apartment is full of confident moves: an exposed red brick accent wall in one room, a sliding barn door in another, navy walls warmed by natural light, and dark wood floors running throughout to tie the spaces together. The bathroom is its own statement — marble-look floor tile paired with white wainscot tile, a red vanity, and warm gold fixtures.

Custom built-in closet shelving was added where the apartment needed real storage, and the co-op coordination — board approvals, elevator scheduling, neighbor protocols — was managed end-to-end by the Zani crew. The finished apartment is the kind of project that turns a renovation into a genuine reflection of the people living in it: bold, livable, and unmistakably not the same as the unit next door.
